Conference “Piero Dorazio. Fantasia Colore Progetto”

Conference
Piero Dorazio. Fantasia Colore Progetto
September 26 – 27, 2019

The Archivio Piero Dorazio, in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore organizes a two-day titled “Piero Dorazio. Fantasia Colore Progetto” curated by Francesco Tedeschi.

This international conference intends to highlight some aspects of Dorazio’s role as both an artist and an intellectual.

Alongside an extensive consideration of the fundamental aspects of his artistic production, special attention will be given to his relationship with American artists. Indeed, it was in 1954, that Piero Dorazio had his first solo exhibition in New York, which led him to strike up crucial relationships with the art world, which led to his teaching engagement at Penn State University in Philadelphia.
Moreover, a panel will emphasize Dorazio’s connection with the European artistic movements, as well as his endorsement of the “synthesis of the arts”, starting with architecture, which he studied at the University of Rome.
His use of words such as “fantasy”, “color” and “project” respectively define the context of his modus operandi; the way he went about painting, and finally his contribution to the international critical debate.
